Sanwo-Olu, represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, enjoined the church to support the state with their prayers, assuring that his administration would do its best at building a greater Lagos for the collective desire of all.
In a related development, the Diocesan Bishop and President of Synod, Diocese of Remo Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Dr. Michael Olusina Fape, also urged the president-elect to tackle infrastructural deficit, such as erratic power supply and insecurity issues.

He also advised Tinubu to appoint competent persons into his cabinet. With the theme: “Examine Yourselves Whether You Are In The Faith,” he noted absolute obedience of Christians to the word of God will show if they are in faith or not.
Appraising the theme of the synod: “The Lord will fight for you” Sanwo-Olu said:
“The synod reminds us of the power of God and it is very appropriate at a time like this. It is evident that, we cannot of our own confront the challenges we are faced with except the Lord intervenes.”
Sanwo-Olu commended the Bishop, Rt. Revd James Olusola Odedeji and members of the Diocese for successfully convening this year’s synod.
The Bishop who in his presidential charge spoke on state of the nation addressed the issue of economy, insecurity, education, health, power, constitutional reform, and 2023 elections, among others, called the Federal Government to overhaul the policing system in the country and make it more vibrant.

Regardless of what is happening in the world, he urged Christians not to lose hope.
According to him, “the happenings today are making many Christians to backslide. Honestly and Godly life seem not to be productive. They feel there is nothing to show for their Christian faith. Churches are now pluralized and fractionalized. Many are claiming to be children of the church but they are far from the faith.”
He however said some Christians are adding more to the problems of the country, stressing that the level of bribery and immorality are alarming.
He further charged: “As we approach the 40th anniversary of the Diocese, we must examine if we are still in faith.”
Conclusively, he advised, “if u keep malice, examine yourself if you are in faith; if you are married and you are still involved in extra marital life examine yourself; if you do business and you don’t pay your tithe, examine yourself. We need to throw away every garment of sin and remove the little foxes.”
