School alumni promise to partner Lagos government to improve education

Methodist Girls High School (MGHS) Old Girls Association, Yaba, has said that it will continue to partner with Lagos State government, particularly the state’s Ministry of Education, to promote a high standard of education in the state and Nigeria by extension.

President, Tempore, Alumni Alliance of Legacy Schools and President, MGHS Old Girls Association, said this, yesterday, during her welcome address at the inaugural Christmas Carol organised by Alumni Alliance of Legacy Schools, which include Baptist Academy, CMS Grammar School, Eva Adelaja Girls Secondary Grammar School, Holy Child College, Igbobi College, among others, held at Rev. Angus Hall, Igbobi College, Yaba.

“As alumni, we have a shared vision to improve the quality of education in our schools, both in terms of the content, infrastructure and other input required.

“The initiative of the newly-convened Alumni Alliance of Legacy Schools is poised not just to support but also enhance the interaction among schools and alumni,” she said.

ALSO, President, Methodist Boys High School Old Boys Association, Lagos, Kolapo Sogbetun, urged the government to make education a priority above other sectors of the economy as it is through education that Nigerians can be empowered economically to live a successful life.

SIMILARLY, President, Eva Adelaja Girls Secondary Grammar School Old Girls Association, Mrs. Ayinde Roda, said the government should improve the welfare system, education, health, housing and every other welfare programme as well as provision of jobs and conducive environment for businesses to thrive.

In his message, Chaplain, Igbobi College, Rev. Segun Oloju, said that the purpose of Christmas was God’s love for mankind.
