The intervention of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in the last general election, David Sabo Kente, has resulted in the release of 35 inmates from prisons in Taraba State.

Kente, who made this known yesterday during his visit to Wukari prison in Wukari council, decried the condition of the prisons and called for well-meaning residents to help in providing drugs and vehicles to the prison management.

The politician, who celebrated his 51st birthday with prisoners and orphanages in the state, said he facilitated the immediate release of the 35 inmates.

He said he had to pay fines ranging from N5000 to over N30,000, for which the inmates were remanded in prison, to relevant authorities.
