Secondary schools’ teachers seek commission
SECONDARY School teachers under the aegis of Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) over the weekend in Benin City, Edo State demanded for the creation of a Secondary School Commission to regulate activities in secondary schools in the country just as it demanded that their members should be involved in drafting curricula for schools.
President of ASUSS, Comrade Omaje Samuel stated this at the ground-breaking ceremony for the building of the secretariat of ASUSS in the Edo State capital under the leadership of Comrade (Mrs.) Bridgitte Etella-Asemota
He said the law establishing the Commission had been made since 1996 but wondered why it has not been implemented.
“The body has a focus, the absence of Secondary Education Commission has been a problem at the secondary school level.
The independence of education at this level has not been guaranteed, no wonder we have decayed infrastructure. We want this to be implemented for us.
