Security to combat insurgents disrupting power in North – Jibrin

Barau Jibrin

The deputy president of the Senate, Barau Jibrin has confirmed that security agencies are planning to take action against insurgents obstructing the repair of crucial power lines in northern Nigeria.

This announcement followed reports from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) regarding widespread power outages across the North-east, North-west, and parts of north-central Nigeria due to disruptions in the Ugwaji-Apir double circuit transmission lines.

TCN disclosed that the Shiroro-Kaduna transmission line, a key source of electricity for the region was vandalized by armed groups.

In response to the situation, President Bola Tinubu on Monday instructed the military to ensure the safety of workers engaged in the repair efforts.

During a Senate session on Tuesday, Jibrin expressed that he has been in close contact with the national security adviser and the managing director of TCN.
