Senate Committee Chairman on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Kabiru Gaya, has assured Nigerians that the electoral bill, which was passed into law by the Eight Senate, but not signed by President Muhammadu Buhari, would be their priority.

He said it would be returned to the Senate for the right thing to be done.

On December 6, 2018, President Buhari declined assent to the Electoral (Amendment) Bill, which was recently passed by the National Assembly.

Gaya spoke on the sidelines of the symposium on promotion of inclusivity in the electoral process for women, youths and persons with disability at the sixth ECOWAS Network of Electoral Commissions (ECONEC).

“The President is bringing the bill and as Chairman, Senate Committee on INEC, we will collaborate with leadership of the House of Representatives on this,” he said.
