
Senator Ede Dafinone of Delta Central Senatorial District has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Senator Monday Okpebholo, the newly elected governor of Edo State.
Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, emerged victorious in the September 21, 2024, governorship election with 291,667 votes, defeating the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, who garnered 247,274 votes, and Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata, who came in third with 22,763 votes.

Dafinone commended Okpebholo’s resilience and dedication throughout the campaign, expressing confidence in his leadership to bring progress to Edo State.

“His victory is a testament to his hard work and commitment to the people,” Dafinone stated.
The senator also lauded the APC’s unity and efforts, while acknowledging the role of INEC and the security agencies in ensuring a peaceful election process.

As Okpebholo prepares to assume office, Dafinone urged him to lead inclusively, embracing all Edo citizens regardless of political affiliations.
“As you assume office, I encourage you to embrace all, regardless of political affiliations, and govern as the leader of all Edo people,” he added.
