The Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Sunday Marshall Katung, has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the renewed attacks on several communities within the area.
It would be recalled that on August 25, 2025, bandits attacked Angwan Rimi, Kamaru, in the Chawai Chiefdom of Kauru Local Government, killing seven people and injuring many others.
Just on Sunday, another attack was launched on the community of Wakeh in the Agunu District of Kachia Local Government, where eight people were killed, several others were injured, and houses in Wakeh and Gadanaji communities were set ablaze.
Also, on the same day, bandits struck again at U/Kaninkon, Mile 1, in Kaninkon Chiefdom of Jema’a Local Government, killing a resident, Musa Shok, a hardworking youth.
Senator Katung extended his condolences to the families who lost loved ones and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. He described the repeated attacks as heartbreaking and deeply painful, stressing that the continued targeting of innocent citizens has no place in a civilised society.
“I am profoundly saddened by these senseless killings. Our innocent people, whose only pursuit is peace and livelihood, continue to fall victim to the cruelty of insurgents. Those killed in such a barbaric and callous manner deserved to live and to dream, but their lives have been cut short by those who thrive on violence and destruction,” said Senator Katung.
He assured the people of Kaduna South Senatorial District of his unwavering commitment to stand with them in these trying times.
Senator Katung emphasised that he is working closely with the Federal Government, the Kaduna State Government, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and other security agencies to strengthen security measures in rural communities.
“I assure you, I will not fold my hands while our people are being killed for no just cause. I will continue to push at every level for greater deployment of security personnel, improved intelligence sharing, and proactive measures to protect our vulnerable farming communities. The safety of our people and our unity remain top priorities on my agenda”.
“I appeal to our people to remain calm, vigilant, and to cooperate fully with security operatives to help prevent future attacks. We must remain united to confront this renewed insurgency,” he added.
