Seven Kano students, two others die in auto crash on Lagos -Ibadan Expressway
Nine people were killed in an auto-crash on Tuesday in an 18-seater bus along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway while retuning to Kano after featuring in national competition held in Lagos.
The nine corpses arrived Malam Aminu Kano international airport at exactly 6.30pm on Azman air. They were received by Governor Abdullahai Ganduje and families of the late students. The corpses include seven students, driver and a state official. Five students sustained degrees of injuries.
The affected secondary school students, all boys, reportedly perished along with the driver and the coordinator. Five others sustained various degrees of injuries.
In a statement signed by the Director Press to the Deputy Governor, Usman Bello, “the unfortunate accident occurred Tuesday morning when the young talents were returning back to Kano after winning various prizes at the competition.
Bello revealed that three of the affected boys were from Unity Secondary School, Karaye while others were from Kano Capital Secondary School.
It was gathered that one of the two buses conveying the entire male students out of the 22 that left for the competition was involved in the road crash.
