Shekarau Tasks FG On National Security
THE former Minister of Education, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau has said that though the Federal Government is recording commendable feats in the war against terror, the welfare of the security agents, training of personnel, deployment of top grade equipment and good pension scheme are fundamental to ensuring lasting national security.
In a press briefing to mark his 60th birthday in Kano, Shekarau said, “Before the current fight against insecurity is successful, the federal government needs to address four fundamental issues of welfare of the security agents, training of personnel, equipping them and good pension scheme.”
According to him, the government must make sure that security agents are well catered for to enable them to live up to their constitutional responsibilities, stressing that when these conditions are not met, there is every likelihood that they could be handicapped in discharging their responsibility.
