Shettima nominates Durkwa as deputy

Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima

BORNO State Governor Kashim Shettima has nominated the immediate past Commissioner for Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Youths Empowerment, Alhaji Usman Mamman Durkwa, for the position of Deputy Governor of the state.

The nomination follows the death of Alhaji Zannah Umar Mustapha on August 15, 2015 in Yola, capi‎tal of Adamawa State while on official assignment.

Spokesman to the Governor, Malam Isa Gusau, confirmed that Shettima has in a letter, dated Monday, October 5, 2015 and addressed to the Speaker, Borno State House of Assembly, forwarded the name of Durkwa seeking the approval of the Assembly. 

The letter stated: “I have the honour to convey vide this letter the name of Hon. Usman Mamman Durkwa for confirmation as Deputy Governor of Borno State following the demise of Alhaji Zannah Umar Mustapha on 15th August, 2015. ‎ I wish to reassure the House of the continuous co-operation of the Executive arm and solicit for confirmation of the nominee. Please accept the assurances of my highest consideration.”
