Slash in salaries : NLC urges Kogi civil servants to remain calm

The statement said labour held a meeting with Gov. Idris Wada on Tuesday during which the governor said he needed more time to source for funds to pay the April salaries of workers.

The NLC Kogi chapter, has appealed to civil servants in the state to remain calm while the issue of 40 per cent slash in their salaries is being resolved with the government.

Labour made the appeal on Wednesday in Lokoja in a statement jointly signed by Mr Onu Edoka, NLC chairman; Mr Abdulazeez Ganiyu, TUC chairman, and Mr Aaron Ameji, Chairman, Joint Negotiating Council.

The statement said labour held a meeting with Gov. Idris Wada on Tuesday during which the governor said he needed more time to source for funds to pay the April salaries of workers.

It assured that labour would reject the 40 per cent slash in the salaries workers on grade level 7 and above being proposed by the government.

The statement appealed to workers to be patient and give the governor more time to source for additional funds to pay their salaries.

“Workers wil not accept any payment short of 100 per cent for the month of April.

“Any attempt by the government to pay 60 per cent salaries will be rejected by workers, “the statement assured (NAN)
