A 35-year-old woman, Sarah Edward Nyam, was allegedly shot dead in Fwapwa Doi Village of Jos South Council of Plateau State Thursday evening by men of the Nigerian army.

Doi village is a neighbouring village to Dura Du village where the missing Army General Idris Alkali’s car was discovered in a mysterious mining pond some weeks ago.

The husband of the woman, Mr. Edward Nyam, told journalists yesterday that his wife was shot dead on Thursday around 7:35pm by the military, who had visited the village, adding that his wife was a mother of five.

“My wife had relocated with the children on Monday from Lapamde village to Doi as a result of harassment by the military on a daily basis. But just yesterday around 7:35pm, she was shot dead.

“You can see the gun shot on her body and the wall of the house. I have five children from her now and I am left alone with the children. We didn’t know what we did to deserve this since the discovery of the missing army General’s car in Dura Du. We, here in Doi cannot sleep and we don’t know our own crime,” he said.

It was gathered that owners of houses located close to the Dura Du mining pond and neighbouring villages such as Doi, Lapamde have all relocated for the fear of the unknown.

Village Head of Doi, Da Michael Gyang, while speaking on the incident, said the community is being humiliated by the military without any crime.
