Soludo presents N258b budget to state assembly

Soludo said that the budget estimate of N258, 970, 175, 905, is tagged, ‘Budget of Acceleration,’ has a deficit of N13 billion.

According to him, the capital budget of N164.2 billion accounts for 63.2 per cent, while the recurrent expenditure of N95.5 billion accounts for 36.8 per cent.

He disclosed that roads, transport, power and urban regeneration would gulp N91.8 billion or 56 per cent of the total capital expenditure.

“Education, health, youths, and women/vulnerable groups have their capital votes more than doubled. We appropriately budgeted for counterpart funding to catalyse resource inflows from our partners,” he noted, adding that the revised 2022 budget was N170 billion.

The governor recalled that the House of Assembly approved for his government to borrow N100 billion, pointing out that it has not been borrowed so far, but that N90 billion has been applied for.

He said: “We plan to roll it over as part of the 2023 financing.

“Our goal is to transform Anambra into a livable and prosperous smart megacity that is the preferred destination to live, invest, learn, work and relax/enjoy.

“Each of the five pillars of our agenda is receiving systematic attention: security; law and order; robust economic transformation from an informal economy to a new industrial-tech- leisure hub; a comprehensive social agenda for human capital bank that is productive at home, and exportable abroad, which leaves no one behind; transparent, prudent and accountable governance, underpinned by a new value system; and sustainable environment through clean, green, planned and sustainable communities, markets, and cities.

“Over the past seven months, we have been moving speedily, addressing, head-on, some foundational issues.”
