Some IDPs in Benue arrested by vigilantes
For violating the rules and regulations guiding the camp hosting Internally Displaced Person (IDP) at the Ultra Modern International Market, Makurdi, some IDPs including one James Tule has been arrested by the vigilantes attach to the camp for allegedly sneaking out relief materials provided for displaced persons through fence.
Parading the accused before journalists, the Executive Secretary, Benue State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Boniface Ortese stated that the arrest followed a tip off and reports that displaced persons were diverting materials for other purposes.
Ortese added that Tule alongside some women now at large carried out the act even as the accused (Tule) agreed that he committed the crime in connivance with some women.
Ortese further advised those hiding under the umbrella of IDPs to carry out mischief to desist from such acts or face the wrath of the law.
Items recovered from the accused included rice, beans, blankets and mosquito nets.
