SON advocates quality medical products
Director General/CEO, Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Mallam Farouk Salim, weekend, stressed the need for standards and improvement in goods and services, particularly in the production of high quality medicines for a safe and better society.
Salim spoke at Igbinedion University Okada (IUO) College of Pharmacy Public Lecture, with topic, “The impact of standards on the practice of the pharmacy profession.”
Salim said the pharmacy profession required the adoption of standards, adding that promoting high standards will also enhance international best practices in products, goods and services.
According to him, R&D is important for businesses because it provides powerful knowledge and insights and leads to improvement in goods and services.
Salim noted that failure to meet global standards and specifications on goods and services would make products lose their value.
On his part, Vice Chancellor, Igbinedion University Okada (IUO), Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye, represented by Prof. Ralph Adeghe described the practice of pharmacy as indispensable in the healthcare system.
The Dean, College of Pharmacy of the institution, Prof. Ighodaro Igbe, said the College of Pharmacy is committed to excellence with high standards in terms of teaching, learning, staffing and infrastructure.
