Explaining that the postponement was not the making of Governor Godwin Obaseki, she said the meeting was truncated after delegates from the South-South zone were already seated.

EXECUTIVE Secretary, National Primary Healthcare in Edo State, Julie Erhabor, yesterday, announced the postponement of the South-South zonal town hall meeting on COVID-19 vaccination for the third time.

Explaining that the postponement was not the making of Governor Godwin Obaseki, she said the meeting was truncated after delegates from the South-South zone were already seated.

She said the successes recorded so far were the results of Obaseki’s determination to contain the COVID-19 pandemic from further spreading in the state.

“Governor Obaseki expressed his displeasure over the unfolding turn of events. This is the third time the South-South zonal town hall meeting is being postponed and it is done at the national level.

“He wants us to be aware that the development has nothing to do with Edo State, as the decision was not taken in the state.
However, we recognise personalities and we appreciate you for coming,” she said. She, however, listed the gains of COVID-19 response in Edo State, adding that the state had built a strong and coordinated COVID-19 response under Governor Obaseki’s leadership.

“We have screened over 550,000 Edo residents, conducted over 56,500 PCR tests in the state. We have also identified 4,910 COVID-19 cases and we have treated and discharged 4,725 cases,” she added.
