Ebonyi state.

The new Commissioner of Police for Ebonyi, Mrs Peace Ibekwe, has warned criminal elements to steer clear of the state, saying the command would not condone acts of criminality.

Ibekwe gave the warning on Monday in Abakaliki when she addressed newsmen after taking over from her predecessor, Mr Maigari Dikko.

According to her, no form of criminality, threat to public peace and security will be condoned as the command will be repositioned for greater efficiency.

She pledged to sustain the prevailing peace in various communities in the state, adding that she would reach out to the people to know their security concerns.

“We will collectively articulate policies and actions aimed at solving the identified concerns to permanently solve issues of communal crisis rampant in the state,’’ she said.

The new commissioner said she would be guided by the I-G’s policy thrust of respect for human rights, zero tolerance for corruption, synergy with relevant security agencies, among others.
She solicited the cooperation of all, saying that effectively policing the state could not be performed by the police alone.

Dikko, the outgoing commissioner, urged journalists and other stakeholders to cooperate with the new commissioner to enable her succeed.

“I have been transferred to the Force Headquarters in Abuja and I can proudly say that I am leaving the command better than I met it,” he said.
