About 10 senior secondary school students in Ogun State have waylaid and assaulted a teacher, Kolawole Shonuga, who stopped one of them from cheating during an examination in the school.
The Guardian gathered that the incident occurred on Tuesday at Isanbi Comprehensive High School, Ilisan-Remo, in Ikenne Local Council of the state.

According to a witness, after school hours, the students ganged up, waylaid the teacher and beat him up to at the school’s gate.
One of the students, Kazeem Adelaja, allegedly hit Shonuga’s head with a stick, while others were beating him.
It was gathered that police officers from Remo Division, later pounced on the students and arrested 10 of them.
Spokesperson for Ogun State Police Command, Omotola Odutola, who confirmed the arrest of 10 suspects, said the victim reported the alleged assault at Remo Police Division.
The Guardian also gathered that the suspects have been arraigned in court for assault, but Odutola could not confirm their arraignment.
MEANWHILE, the state government has condemned the act and vowed not to condone acts of indiscipline by students across the state.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, gave this warning in Abeokuta, while receiving the new Executives of the Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN).
He noted that part of the efforts put in place was the signing of Undertaking forms by students, parents, and school heads to hold learners and parents liable for any misconduct of the learners or parents alike.
Arigbabu said the aim was to have a safe learning environment free from pandemonium of any sort.
He said: “I’m using this opportunity to advise parents to talk to their children, they should warn them, because we won’t tolerate any indiscipline from any child. Any student that misbehaves in school will be dealt with appropriately.”
