• NFF not setting any target for team
The Super Eagles will meet Tunisia in their second game of the on-going African Nations Championship (CHAN) in new kits, The Guardian has learnt.
A source at the team’s camp revealed that kit sponsor, NIKE, delivered a new set of wears for the Super Eagles at their Hill View camp yesterday, adding that it would help solve some of the problems being encountered by the players at the championship.
Before the kits arrived, there were concerns that the players could be made to wash their jerseys after every match as they had just a few with them in Rwanda.
“We are happy the players will not experience what the U-23 team faced in Senegal during the African U-23 Nations Cup as NIKE has supplied us our kits,” the source said.
Meanwhile, the NFF has revealed that it has not set any target for the Super Eagles at the on-going CHAN, as it does not want to put the players under any pressure.
Speaking on the performance of the team so far, NFF Secretary General, Sanusi Mohammed, said, “we have only made them realise that Nigerians expect a certain outcome.
“When you tell them to win the title it would put unnecessary pressure on the team. On the other hand, if you tell them to get to the semifinal or reach the final, it could make them complacent.
“They know what winning this competition will do to their career and I am sure they want to go home with the gold medal.”
