Suspect admits killing, burying police officer in shallow grave

A 28-year old killer suspect, Gift Ogoni arrested by the police for the murder of a 50 year old man, has admitted his involvement and confessed to the kidnapping and murder of police officer, DSP Emmanuel German.

A 28-year old killer suspect, Gift Ogoni arrested by the police for the murder of a 50 year old man, has admitted his involvement and confessed to the kidnapping and murder of police officer, DSP Emmanuel German. The suspect said he belongs to a 5-man gang of kidnappers, and their leader (name withheld) had an issue with the late Emmanuel and was killed.

After the confession, the daughter of the slain officer broke down in tears but pleaded with the police to locate where the hoodlums buried her father, so that he could be given a befitting burial. She called on the police to arrest and bring to book, all persons behind the murder of her father.

Meanwhile, police have also arrested a 37-year old female nurse (name withheld) for child trafficking. The suspect arrested in the early hours of yesterday was picked up at her residence in Ogbeke Square and is currently helping the investigation. The suspect and others have been operating for a while and used the nursing profession to organize the sale of stolen children.

Reacting, the Public Relations Officer in the Federal Hospital (name withheld) Mr. Nnamdi Ogbogu said the hospital has no such person as staff, adding that the suspect may have been posing as staff of the Hospital as they had no records of her.

The Police boss however confirmed that the suspect hails from Anambra State and was recently posted to the postsurgical department of the Medical Centre, adding that she confessed to the crime and implicated a doctor (name withheld) who had been assisting their syndicate with babies.
