No fewer than 10 Tiv farmers have been feared killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen yesterday in Nasarawa State. The killing, according to a source, occurred in an early hour attack on Gidan Sule, a Tiv Community in Keana Council of the state.

Spokesperson of Gidan Sule, Community, Zaki Achin, who was in tears, reported that some of them survived only with the intervention of army officers, who engaged the marauders in a cross fire.

He gave names of those killed to include: Philomina Aeesaa and her baby, Uwuhe Tarza, Rita Aoor. Others are: Boyi Udekor, Terhemen Suega, Suega Ortserga and Mbaorun Suega. He noted that two more persons were missing at the time of filing this report.

In an interview, the Senior Special Assistant on Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Adult Education to the state governor, Mercy Kumbur, explained that on the day the incident occurred, gunshots were heard after which two people were reportedly killed by unknown gunmen around Kadarko, in Nasarawa and Yelwata, in Benue State.

She, however, lamented the constant attacks on people at border areas in the state. She commended Governor Abdulahi Sule for his relentless effort in making sure life and property of citizens are protected.

MEANWHILE, Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, has ordered security forces to immediately confront attackers threatening lives of people in villages around Bokkos Council.

Lalong has described recent spate of attacks on villages, leading to loss of lives, as unacceptable. He vowed that attackers must be fished out and punished.

On Saturday, October 8, 2022, gunmen attacked Kuliyas Village in Butura, Bokkos, killing four persons, including the village head.

This is coming after other isolated cases of killing occurred in Follo, Karara, Bokkos and Mangar, as well as the kidnap of students at All Nation’s Academy, who were eventually rescued by security forces.

Besides, the governor, in a statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr. Makut Macham, commended security agencies whose combined efforts ensured the rescue of 10 persons kidnapped by bandits in Bashar, Wase Council.
