THE Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, (PFN) yesterday congratulated Nigeria’s President-elect, General Buhari on his victory in last Saturday’s presidential polls, saying it expects the incoming government to meet the expectations of Nigerians.

Also, Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam yesterday commended President Goodluck Jonathan for his display of uncommon statesmanship by conceding defeat.

PFN National President, Rev. Felix Omobude also commended the “courage and spirit of sportsmanship” displayed by President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat and congratulating his opponent. “We trust the Almighty God that He will graciously grant you the wisdom and all you require to make the dreams of all Nigerians come true.

“We commend President Jonathan for his courage and spirit of sportsmanship in accepting the outcome of the elections. This has saved the nation from political chaos and violence. The PFN urged Nigerians to continue to maintain peace and order and engage in things that will unite and strengthen our democratic values.”

Suswam, who made the statement released by his Director on Media, Mr. James Uloko, maintained that although, the election was marred by irregularities, the president has been humble enough to accept defeat, stressing that such was something novel in the political history of Nigeria and worthy of emulation by well meaning politicians across board.

He posited that President Jonathan would go down in history as the man who has finally placed Nigeria on the global map of truly democratic nations of the world and will also remain a permanent fixture in the nation’s political consciousness, as he has worked tirelessly and passionately for the unity and progress of Nigeria.

The Governor, also lauded members of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, for putting up a good fight in their bid to re-elect president Jonathan, even as he said PDP as a party will continue to work hard in spite of the setback, to re-invent itself in the months to come.

He congratulated General Buhari for his victory at the polls, which he says was the will of God to ensure that peace endures in Nigeria against the predictions of doom by scaremongers.
Meanwhile, the Co-ordinator of the Niger Delta Peoples Confederation (NDPC), Iyamu Osaro Culture, in Benin City, yesterday reminded the founder of the Niger Delta Salvation Front/ Nigeria Delta People Volunteer Force, NDPSF/ NDPVF, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari that people of North and South-West conspired to deny Jonathan a second term in office, another group, the Niger Delta Peoples Confederation, (NDPC) yesterday disagreed, saying the emergence of Major General Muhammadu Buhari represented the true wishes of the Nigerian people.

The NDPC therefore, sued for peace in order to fast-track development of the region rather than contemplating hostilities or returning to the brigandage.
