Tanzanian envoy lauds Zuriel’s girl-child education campaign

THE Tanzanian Ambassador to Nigeria, Daniel Ole Njoolay, has applauded efforts by Girl Child Education Activist and film maker, Zuriel Oduwole, in advocating girl child education, saying it would go a long way in increasing the number of girls that attend school on the African continent.

Njoolay who stated this Monday in Abuja when Zuriel and her team paid him a courtesy visit, compared the girl child advocacy campaign by the 13-year old girl to the project by the Tanzanian First Lady, “Women in Development,” adding that the advocacy campaign would re-awaken the zeal for education among Nigerian children.

He said: “I am highly impressed with what she is doing to talk to the parents and children across Africa. I believe it would awaken the girl child as well as their parents on the importance of education.”

While stressing the need to further encourage the young lady in her advocacy campaign for it to reach every country on the African continent, the Ambassador said he foresees a future United Nation Secretary General if well managed.

The campaigner, Zuriel Oduwole, in her remark appreciated the Tanzanian envoy for supporting her cause. Reeling out the details of her advocacy tagged Dream up, Speak up, Stand up, she said it was part of efforts to encourage the girl-child to get education so that they can become whatsoever they wanted to become in life.

She said, so far, she has been able to spread her advocacy to three countries of Nigeria, Mauritania and Tanzania where she has been able to reach out to 20,000 children on the importance of education.

She said: “I have travelled to different countries talking to children on the importance of staying in school and getting a good education, I also speak to their parents on what a girl child can do if given the chance to get good education.”

She added that the plight of African girl child was what inspired her to embark on the campaign saying, “it worries me when I see the girl child on the street without getting a chance to get education.”

She said “my dream is for every girl child on the African continent to go to school and get good education, so that when they get older they get better jobs, create jobs for many people and on the long run empower the country.”
