Taraba APC urges supporters to remain peaceful, shun violence

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba has called on its supporters to remain calm and be law -abiding in the face of any provocation.

Alhaji Hassan Ardo, the State Chairman of the APC, made the call while addressing newsmen on Saturday in Jalingo.

He said that his party was aware of underground plans by some group to cause breach of the and ignite violence in the state.

We observed that some elements are out to cause trouble and blame it on the APC, with a view to attracting attention, but our members are peace-loving people.

Our (electoral) verdict was obtained through a peaceful process and we expect anyone that is not satisfied with the outcome, to seek for redress in the courts.

He said the victory of the party at the Election Petitions Tribunal on Nov.7 in Abuja, came as a shock to the opposition in the state.

He described the victory as a triumph for democracy over elements of the dark days of impunity.

He then called on security agencies in the state, to be vigilant to safeguard the lives and property of citizens.

NAN reports that there has been uneasy calm in Jalingo, following the verdict of Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal that sacked Gov. Darius Ishaku of the PDP and declared Sen. Aisha Alhassan as the elected governor of the state. (NAN)
