The Commissioner of Police in Taraba State, Emmanuel Simon Bretet, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Inspector-General of Police to improving the welfare of both active and retired police personnel nationwide.
Bretet provided this assurance during a recent meeting with the Taraba State Chapter of the Association of Retired Police Officers of Nigeria (ARPON), which was held following directives from the IGP to consult with retired officers on matters affecting their well-being.
The details of the meeting were communicated on Tuesday in a statement issued to journalists in Jalingo by the Acting Police Public Relations Officer, ASP James Lashen Saminu.
During the discussion, Bretet praised the valuable contributions of retired officers to national security and emphasised that their welfare remains a top priority for the police force.
He further stated that the IGP is working closely with relevant stakeholders to tackle the issues faced by police retirees.
The commissioner also assured that the command is dedicated to strengthening relationships with retired officers, aligning with the IGP’s vision of building a secure and united Nigeria.
In response, the State Chairman of ARPON, Gadna Nicholas (rtd), expressed gratitude to the IGP for his dedication to the welfare of retired officers and commended the ongoing efforts to address their concerns.
