Teacher, sister arrested for allegedly sending threat messages to nun

Two women, a teacher at Handmads International Catholic School, Aguda, Lagos and her accomplice have been arrested for threatening to kill the school head-teacher, a Reverend Sister.

The suspects have confessed that they wanted to teach the head teacher, Rev. Sister Mary Okolo, a bitter lesson for her highhandedness. The suspects, Ngozi Nnabude, 46, and Uchenna Agagwaonye, 40, are blood relations.

The Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, said investigation into the case revealed that the teacher, Uchenna Agagwaonye, was frustrated by what she termed ‘highhandedness’ of the school head-teacher, and decided to make life miserable for the Catholic nun by engaging her sister, Ngozi, a woman, with an outstanding knowledge of the use of computers and telephones.

“They conspired to put the nun under constant fear and apprehension of imminent danger. When the threat to maim, kidnap, kill and expose her unfounded secret sex life was continuous, Rev. Sister Okolo reported the matter to the command’s Anti Kidnapping unit.

“The intelligence component of the command was directed to unmask those behind the threat to life of the nun. The intelligence revealed that Agagwaonye’s job was to monitor Okolo and pass information gathered to her sister, Ngozi, who now called the Rev. Sister to tell her movement. She used to tell the nun such threat messages like: ‘I can see you, you are putting on this and type of clothes and shoe, you are in so and so place, you can’t hide from us and you will be killed soon.”

According to him, the sister was frightened as the caller was getting accurate information about her.However, the suspects have confessed to the crime and detectives investigating the case have been charged to find out if the suspects have the capacity to carry out their threat, if they are working with other criminals, and if there are other persons they are still torturing physiologically as they did to the Rev. Sister.
 
The command has also arrested Otiko Onoriode, the owner of a local distillery company, where fake malt drinks are produced at Igba Afa, in Igbogbo Bayeku area of Ikorodu. Others arrested along with Onoriode are his younger brother, Otiko Ogheneovo, Esiekpe Benson, Diakpomerere Emmanuel and Mrs. Diakpomerere.
 
Onoriode, according to the police has confessed that he has been operating the illegal brewery for over five years. The police boss yesterday said the result of the analysis on assorted drinks is being awaited while investigation to ascertain where the product is usually taken to for bottling and canning was ongoing.
 
Egdal said the command was interested in the case as it concerns health and will not leave any stone unturned in carrying on with the investigation to a logical conclusion. The police boss, who personally led a team of policemen to the production site said the factory, built on an acre of land, has been forfeited to the state government.
