Teacher suspended for alleged immoral conversation with ex-female student

The Federal Ministry of Education on Wednesday announced the suspension of a college teacher involved in an alleged inappropriate conversation with a former female student.The suspended staff member was seen in a video currently circulating online, which revealed a college staff member engaging in an immoral video conversation with a former female student.

However, the ministry’s spokesperson, Boriowo Folasade, said the ministry is “deeply disturbed” by the viral video, which labels the act as “totally unacceptable.”

“The ministry has taken immediate action by suspending the staff pending further investigation and necessary disciplinary actions,” Folasade said in a statement on Wednesday.

Folasade added that the alleged suspect has been handed over to the relevant authorities for investigation and prosecution.

She said, “Also, he has been banned from entering or having any access to the school premises. We assure the public that a thorough investigation will be carried out to address this unwholesome behavior.”

The ministry, however, “strongly condemns” all illegal acts and immoral behaviors that compromise the safety, dignity, and well-being of present, past, and future students.

It also reiterated its commitment to providing a safe and protective learning environment for all students.

It noted that it will continue to work with relevant authorities to ensure that perpetrators of such acts are brought to justice.

The ministry, however, appeals to the public, particularly parents and guardians, to cooperate with us in addressing such matters.

She said, “We also urge anyone with vital information or evidence related to this and other incidents to report such inappropriate acts to the authorities.”
