Teen arrested for Facebook posts on way to shooter’s school

A 17-year-old student was arrested after he allegedly became abusive to Australian police trying to question him about comments made on Facebook, local media reported on Tuesday.

The comments were related to the case of a 15-year-old schoolmate who killed an employee of Sydney Police headquarters and then died in a shootout with officers on Thursday.

According to the report, the 17-year-old had wrote that he hoped police burned in hell, and warned that another police station would be targeted, signing off AWA – meaning Arab With Attitude.

Police believed the shooter, identified as Muslim immigrant, Farhad Jabar, was acting on orders from radicals who supplied him with the handgun he used to kill accountant Curtis Cheng, 58, outside the police station on Friday.

The report added that students from Jabar’s school said he sang IS propaganda songs on the playground, which is close to police headquarters.

However, Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione and Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull both described the attack as a terrorist act.
