A teenage girl, Chidima Sunday, was on Tuesday charged before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly attempting to kill a man, Francis Ikemefuna, by stabbing him.

Chidima, 18, is standing trial on a four-count charge of felony, assault, threat and attempted murder.

The prosecutor, ASP Godwin Eze, told the court that the accused had on May 6 at 8.30 p.m. at 14, Hyacinth Madueke, Abulu-Ado in Ojo area of Lagos, committed the offences.

“The accused had on the said date attempted to kill Francis Ikemefuna by stabbing him with a kitchen knife.

“Similarly, Chidima assaulted Ikemefuna thereby causing him serious injuries on his left leg with intent to kill him,” he said.

Eze noted that the offences contravened Sections 56, 171, 228, and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The teenager pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Ruling on the bail application of the accused, the Magistrate, Mr Teslimi Shomade, granted her bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in the like sum.

In addition, he said the sureties, who should be the blood relations of the accused, should provide a two-year tax clearance.

The case was adjourned to June 26 for mention.
