Residents of Agingi community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, alongside Angwan Damisa and Dutse Uku, have raised alarm over reported threats by suspected bandits.

The residents disclosed that the attackers allegedly issued warnings, indicating that the communities should expect an attack on the night of April 3, 2026.

The development has heightened anxiety across the affected areas, with residents appealing to security agencies to take proactive and decisive measures to safeguard lives and property.

Security personnel stationed at various checkpoints in the communities confirmed awareness of the situation. They, however, urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and promptly report any suspicious movements.

They assured the communities of their readiness to prevent any security breach, encouraging residents to go about their normal activities without fear.

Meanwhile, a public affairs analyst, Mr. Dashwei Jacob Dauda, has criticised the recent visit of the President to Jos, describing it as inadequate given the scale of suffering experienced by residents over the years.

Dauda said the visit should have provided an opportunity for healing and demonstrated genuine national concern, especially in the wake of repeated violent attacks in the state.

He lamented that the President’s visit did not extend beyond the airport, leaving out communities most affected by violence.

According to him, it was disappointing that some local leaders failed to use the opportunity to highlight pressing issues such as insecurity, displacement, and injustice, choosing instead to offer praise and political assurances.

“It is disheartening that at a time when our people are grieving and seeking justice, some representatives prioritised political endorsements over the real concerns of the people,” he said.

Dauda stressed that true leadership requires courage to speak for the oppressed and demand meaningful solutions, warning that continued silence by leaders contributes to the suffering and neglect of affected communities.
