…War Against Terrorism Will Linger A While
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar has called on relevant Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to support the current war against terrorism and other forms of criminalities in the country.

Abubakar made the call during his operational visit to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) 115 Special Operations Group (SOG) in Port Harcourt. A statement signed by Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya said Abubakar’s visit enables him to assess the level of progress on the ongoing reactivation of 2 NAF helicopters towards increasing the NAF’s operational efficiency, saying the critical role being played by the unit towards Nigeria’s security is commendable.

He thanked the management of AeroContractors, Overland Airways and Innoson Group, all of who are rendering various technical services to the NAF, at no or minimal costs to the NAF, describing the gesture as being exemplary and worthy of emulation.

He also commissioned a new residential building, designed to accommodate 120 new and incoming recruits. The building was named after late Abdulmalik.H (NAF09/24099) for her gallantry and sacrifice to the nation. Late Abdulmalik died on 25 November 2012 during a suicide bomb attack at the Jaji Cantonment Kaduna by members of the Boko Haram sect.

He added that the war against terrorism would linger for some time, adding that the fight is not only insurgency but there are other issues to deal with to ensure a safe and secured environment.

The NAF chief noted that the military has demonstrated commitment in safeguarding the nation’s territory, adding that the military was determined to ensuring that terrorism is eradicated soonest.

He expressed satisfaction with the partnership between NAF and other security agencies, promising that the command would continue to improve the welfare of its personnel for effective and efficient service delivery.
