Terrorists kill six, carried out three attacks in Dutsinma Local Government Area in Katsina State

Katsina State Vigilante Commander, Salisu Rabo, said terrorists carried out three separate attacks on Tuesday within the Dutsinma Local Government Area axis, and that six people lost their lives while several others sustained injuries.

Rabo, who stated this while speaking with newsmen Wednesday, said the first attack which occurred in Zakka forest, Safana council area, led to the death of three police officers, including an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Aminu Umar.

He said the second was the attack on President Muhammadu Buhari’s advance team’s convoy on the Dutsinma-Yantumaki road, in which two persons were injured.

Rabo said a third attack took place at Kwanar Dutse village, Dutsinma, where the terrorists ransacked the entire community, killed three vigilante members and injured several people.

He also said that three of his members were injured during the attack and are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

“There were three incidents: those that attacked the Area Commander at Zakka forest. Two other police officers were killed along with the Area Commander,” Rabo said.

“Those that attacked the (presidential) convoy at Dutsinma -Yantumaki road at a place near where people sell fish.

“Another group that came on 300 motorcycles invaded Kwanar Dutse village and carted away unspecified number of animals, after killing about three of our members and injuring many victims.

“Several of the terrorists were also killed during the attack. We eliminated many, but they used to carry the bodies on their motorcycles into the bush.”

He identified the vigilante members who were killed to include Nura Maaruf, Yashi and Dan Bauchi, while those that were injured as Maiunguwa, Abdulaziz, and a yet-to-be-identified victim.

Meanwhile, the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations (CSO) in the state have called on the Federal Government to justify the money spent on security by ensuring safety of lives and property in the country.

The Coalition made the call in a statement while reacting to the killing of the Dutsinma Area Commander, ACP Aminu Umar by terrorists on Tuesday.

The statement issued by its state chairman, Abdulrahman Abdullahi, lamented the death of the Police Area Commander, insisting that the incident spoke volume of inadequacies in Nigeria’s security system.

According to the group, “It is disturbing that government’s inability to provide our security men with working tools and chase bandits to their enclaves is continually resulting in loss of gallant officers like ACP Aminu Umar and other innocent Nigerians.

“The bandits are gradually becoming stronger and bolder by the day. Fight should be taken to their enclaves using land and air forces. But unfortunately, the airforce and army are not striking with the needed force.

“You will see fighter jets flying the sky but when you ask for casualties, you can’t see any. Bandits are attacking innocent people few miles away from military bases but no intervention.

“Money is spent on daily basis for security but the situation is worsening everyday. It is high time the President and the National Assembly should begin to query why there is no commensurate results to security investment. This senseless killing must stop,” it added.

In a related development, the late ASP Aminu Umar who was killed by terrorists on Tuesday, has been laid to rest at Dayi community, in the Malumfashi council area.

The Police Commissioner, Idris Dauda led top officers of the command to Dayi for the burial which took place at 11am according to Islamic rites.
