The Guardian bags CITN Outstanding Print Media Award
The Guardian has bagged Outstanding Print Media Award from the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN). The award was presented to The Guardian at the institute’s yearly dinner and awards over the weekend.
Presenting the award, the President and Chairman of Council, CITN, Samuel Agbeluyi, congratulated The Guardian on its exceptional role in contributing its invaluable quota to the development and sustenance of the institute and the Nigerian tax system.
According to him, The Guardian has, in no small measure, contributed and encouraged excellence in taxation and tax professionalism across the country. He urged the awardees to continue to do more for the benefit of the nation, saying: “Once we have a lot of people doing well, everything will go well in the country.”
The CITN boss urged leaders to judiciously utilise taxpayers’ money, saying it would put Nigeria on an upward trajectory. Meanwhile, the Federal Government has expressed optimism of stakeholders’ input as the National Assembly begins a public hearing on the proposed Economic Stabilisation Bill.
The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, who was a special guest of honour at the event, said patriotism was critical to successful passage of the bill.
Stating that the CITN had the willpower to drive the bill, he urged stakeholders to table their concerns and suggestions, promising that the Federal Government would give a listening ear to their yearnings.
