Tinubu, Aiyedatiwa, Akande, Fayemi, others celebrate Ajanaku at 60

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has paid tributes to Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku, as the seasoned journalist marked his 60th birthday yesterday.

Tinubu, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, rejoiced with the celebrant, commending his courage, vibrancy, and unwavering dedication to the noble profession of journalism over many decades.

The President acknowledged Ajanaku’s immense contributions to democracy and good governance in Nigeria, recalling his valiant efforts against tyranny during the dark days of military rule.

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adesuyan, described Ajanaku’s attainment of age 60 as a remarkable milestone that calls for deep gratitude to God and reflection on a life of purpose and impactful service.

Similarly, former Interim National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bisi Akande, in his goodwill message, said that Ajanaku had used journalism as a tool to shape and help the people and had served with dignity and integrity.

Former Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, highlighted Ajanaku’s fearless role in the enthronement of democracy.

He recalled his contributions at The Guardian newspaper during the NADECO era, particularly his efforts to actualise the annulled June 12, 1993, presidential election.

The Secretary-General of Afenifere and NADECO during the pro-democracy struggle, Ayo Opadokun, commended Ajanaku’s lifelong bravery and commitment to the progressive path.

The APC-USA National Leader, Dele Alade, while reflecting on Ajanaku’s international contributions to the ruling party, recalled with nostalgia their joint involvement in Egbe Omo Yoruba conferences in Atlanta, Georgia, and Texas, where Ajanaku used his media prowess to promote the progressive struggle.
