Wife of the President, Oluremi Tinubu, yesterday, flagged off the distribution of 100 trucks of rice and N1.2 billion palliatives to support vulnerable households across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The intervention, organised in collaboration with the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Political and Other Matters, was aimed at supporting vulnerable Muslim communities ahead of the Eid al-Adha celebrations.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony in Kaduna, the First Lady explained that the gesture was a demonstration of solidarity with the Muslim Ummah in Northern Nigeria and a practical expression of compassion and support during the festive season.
She added that the items and funds would be distributed through state coordinating committees that have already been put in place.
Mrs Tinubu further noted that “the initiative follows a similar intervention carried out on December 23, 2025, when palliatives were distributed to Christian communities across Northern Nigeria.”
The First Lady also commended the Special Adviser to the President on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, for coordinating the programme.
In his remarks, Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, described the initiative as a reflection of compassionate leadership and national unity.
He said the President and the First Lady have continued to demonstrate commitment to the welfare of Nigerians through targeted social interventions.
