
President Bola Tinubu has mourned his elder cousin, Dr. Naheemdeen Ade Ekemode, who passed away at the age of 80.
Tinubu in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, reflected on their shared childhood memories and honored Dr. Ekemode’s esteemed career as a gynecologist with over 50 years of service.
In his tribute, Tinubu said “Your passing has left an unfillable void in the hearts of our family. The fond memories we shared, from childhood through the many years we spent together, will forever remain in my heart. I will always cherish your bright smile, infectious laughter, and unwavering kindness.”
The President praised Dr. Ekemode’s contributions to medicine, recalling the many lives his cousin touched through his work.
Reflecting on Dr. Ekemode’s recent 80th birthday celebration, the president said “Though we celebrated your 80th birthday earlier this year with hope for more shared moments, we take solace in the knowledge that you are now at peace, free from pain and suffering.”
The President also extended his condolences to the entire Ekemode family,
“May Allah grant you eternal rest, and His mercy and peace be with you always,” he said.
