Ahead of tomorrow’s swearing-in ceremony, the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has been tasked to seek accelerated solutions to Nigeria’s enormous and multifaceted challenges as a failing state.

A socio-economic development advocate, and President, Gbenga Akinwande Foundation, Engr. Gbenga Akinwande, made the call in congratulatory messages to both the President-elect and Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun.

Akinwande urged the President to prioritise the economy and insecurity, as these were the two most prevalent challenges facing the nation at the moment. In resolving the economic challenges, he stressed the need for Tinubu to be aggressive with social and infrastructure projects that will create jobs and add value to the people and the nation.

“It is pertinent for the president to run away from white elephant projects that will not add value to the nation, but will only enrich lobbyists and monopolists the more,” he said.

Akinwande further urged the president to adopt the Chinese approach to economy development, which started by encouraging youths to focus on agriculture to provide food for their hungry population and for export for foreign exchange earnings. “A well-fed Chinese population was able to think properly, and this was followed by rapid economic and industrial development of one of the world’s most powerful nation,” he added.

Akinwande also urged the incoming federal government to focus on education, research, and development, noting that most of the state governments’ primary and secondary schools were below standard, a development he opined will continue to hunt us in technological advancement and development.

The Yewa-born APC politician further enjoined the President-elect to appease the 36 state governors to let local government autonomy become a reality, while appealing to him not to play too much politics with decision-making.

“The 16 years of the PDP leadership was not a good era for the nation, while the last 8 years of the just concluded administration was not what a progressive government ought to be known for. The challenge before Tinubu’s government therefore would be how to reinvent progressives’ ideas and programmes for economic recovery and solve the challenge of insecurity in our country,” Akinwande said.
