Tinubu’s reforms are critical steps toward sustainable national recovery – Muftwang

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State

The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwan,g has expressed strong confidence in the economic reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, describing them as critical steps toward sustainable national recovery and effective service delivery.

Mutfwang stated this during a courtesy visit by members of the Renewed Hope City Boys Movement at the New Government House, Rayfield, Jos.

The governor reaffirmed his endorsement of the Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that recent indicators, particularly the steady growth of Nigeria’s foreign reserves, reflect renewed investor confidence and gradual economic stabilisation.

He described the emergence of the movement as timely, signalling the commencement of grassroots political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections. He commended the group for its early organisation and emphasised that effective politics must be people-centred and service-driven.

“All politics is local. It must be rooted in relevance and service to the people, not mere symbolism,” the governor stated.

A statement from his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr. Gyang Bere, said that Mutfwang reiterated his confidence in President Tinubu’s policies and initiatives, acknowledging that while some reforms have been difficult, they were necessary for long-term national survival. He described the removal of the fuel subsidy as inevitable, noting that the policy disproportionately benefited racketeers rather than ordinary Nigerians.

“Whenever you are confronted with a difficult situation as a leader, you must be prepared to make tough decisions,” he said.

Highlighting positive economic developments, the governor noted that Nigeria’s foreign reserves have risen to appreciable levels, helping to ease foreign exchange constraints and restore confidence among international investors who previously faced challenges repatriating funds.

“We are beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel,” Mutfwang remarked.

While acknowledging that the effects of macroeconomic reforms may take time to fully reflect at the grassroots, he observed that recent reductions in food prices point to tangible progress. He added that government efforts were ongoing to address losses suffered by farmers and strengthen food security nationwide.

He further disclosed that President Tinubu has demonstrated keen interest in the peace, stability, and development of Plateau State, particularly in livestock development.

Mutfwang revealed that modalities were being finalised to leverage Plateau State’s comparative advantage in livestock production, noting that the sector would drive wealth creation, empower youth and women, and boost beef and dairy production to meet growing demand.

The governor emphasised that the scope and depth of reforms initiated by the Tinubu administration underscore the importance of continuity, describing support for a second term as a worthy and strategic cause. He congratulated the Renewed Hope City Boys Movement for aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda and assured them of the state government’s shared commitment to its success.

Earlier, the State Director of the City Boys Movement, Prince David Daser, speaking on behalf of the Grand Patron, Seyi Tinubu; the Director-General, Hon. Francis Shoga; and the national leadership of the movement, explained that the City Boys Movement is a youth-driven, progressive platform committed to grassroots mobilisation, political inclusion, and leadership development.

He noted that the movement has functional structures across all local government areas, wards, and polling units in Plateau State.

Prince Daser announced plans to host a major Plateau State City Boys Movement Conference in February 2026 and assured the Governor of the movement’s loyalty and partnership in promoting federal and state government policies at the grassroots.

The visit culminated in the decoration of Governor Mutfwang as the State Patron and Advisor of the movement, and the presentation of a plaque in recognition of his commitment to youth inclusion and empowerment.
