Tribunal sacks Ilaje/Ese-Odo Rep, orders fresh election
THE Federal House of Representatives member representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency under the aegis of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Kolade Akinjo, has been sacked by the election petition tribunal sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Akinjo was sacked by the tribunal headed by Justice Antony Ogar, which hinged its decision on the fact that the candidate of the PDP for the April 11election was not an eligible flagbearer of the party.
It said that Akinjo was not qualified for the election in as much as he did not obtain waver from the necessary organs of the PDP before contesting for the last election.
The plaintiff through his counsel, Yinka Orokoto, also argued that the respondent did not score the highest lawful votes for him to be the representative of the people of the two local councils in the coastal area.
However, the counsel to the respondent, Remi Olatubora, debunked the allegations, saying that his client was duly elected and obtained the necessary waver before he contested the election.
