Troops of Sector 3 of the Northeast Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), have arrested a 48-year-old Chadian woman for allegedly supplying illicit drugs and alcoholic beverages to Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters operating in the Lake Chad Islands.
The military said the seized consignment was allegedly destined for terrorists operating across the Lake Chad Basin, which spans Nigeria, Chad, Niger and Cameroon.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Acting Media Information Officer of OPHK, Captain Mohammed Goni, said the arrest marked another breakthrough in efforts to dismantle the logistical networks supporting terrorist activities in the North-East.

According to him, troops acted on credible intelligence on Thursday, July 9, 2026, intercepting a suspected foreign drug courier transporting a large consignment of illicit drugs, alcoholic beverages and other prohibited substances believed to be meant for terrorist elements in the Lake Chad Islands.

The operation was carried out along the Maiduguri–Monguno highway, where troops stopped a suspicious vehicle heading towards Kwatan Doron Baga in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.

Goni identified the suspect as Mrs. Rachael Samuel, a Chadian national from Kelo in Chari-Baguirmi Province, Chad.
He said preliminary investigations indicated that the recovered items were being transported to locations within the Lake Chad Islands, a known operational base for terrorist groups.
