Troops of Operation Delta Safe have foiled oil theft worth over N443.1 million in the last week in the Niger Delta region.
The Director Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Markus Kangye, disclosed this while stating the successes of operations in the region. He said the breakdown includes 294,500 litres of stolen crude oil and 188,450 litres of AGO.
“Additionally, troops discovered and destroyed 13 crude oil cooking ovens, 19 dugout pits, eight boats, 16 storage tanks and 12 illegal refining sites,” he said.
He said items recovered during the period include pumping machines, mobile phones, three tricycles, and four vehicles, while 33 oil thieves and other criminals were arrested.
He added that other items recovered were assorted arms and ammunition, and some explosives.
“Between Aug. 21 and Aug. 26, 2025, troops, while conducting offensive operations, arrested 13 suspected criminals and rescued two kidnapped victims in Sapele, Aniocha North and Ughelli LGAs of Delta State, as well as Ahoada and Onelga LGAs of Rivers State,” he said.
On the success recorded in the South East, Kangye said troops of Joint Task Force, Operation Udo Ka, during the week under review, sustained offensive and killed some terrorists.
According to him, nine suspected IPOB/ESN members were arrested in Okigwe and Enugu South LGAs of Imo and Enugu states, as well as Ohafia and Ihiala LGAs of Abia and Anambra states, respectively.
