
Troops of 6 Brigade Garrison, Nigerian Army, have during an anti-kidnapping patrol in Taraba State, arrested two kidnappers and rescued hostages.
The Brigade Commander, Brig-Gen. Frank Etim, revealed to the media in Jalingo, yesterday, that the victims were captured in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) area of Jalingo, the state capital.
Hailed as a triumph, the operation unfolded in the early hours of Sunday, November 26, was driven by credible intelligence of terrorist activities in the metropolis.
“Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the troops conducted a raid on the terrorists’ hideout, leading to the capture of Awwal Bobo, 32, and Sallau Abdul, 33,” Etim stated.
“The rescued victims, identified as Mrs. Fauziyya Yusuf and Abdulsallam Abubakar, were safely extricated from the clutches of their captors.”
The commander revealed that during the operation, two kidnappers were arrested, while others managed to evade capture upon detecting the advancing troops.
He assured newsmen that the fleeing criminals would soon be apprehend.
While expressing joy over one of the rescued victims being reunited with his family, Etim mentioned that the other victim was receiving medical attention to ensure her physical and emotional well-being before being reunited with her family.
Commending the troops for their prompt response, the General urged them not to relent in ensuring the peace and safety of citizens.
He called on the public to keep cooperating with and supporting security agencies by providing timely information to enhance swift response to security issues.
Etim appealed to the newsmen to disseminate the information through their respective media channels, fostering awareness about the success of the military operation in Jalingo.
