CHAIRMAN of the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN), Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, has raised the alarm over threat to his life, his family and businesses in Lagos over his support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its gubernatorial candidate in the state, Jimi Agbaje.

“My life, my family, and my businesses in Lagos are under severe threat because of the role I am playing in PDP and in my support for Jimi Agbaje,” Ubah said.

“They threatened me for leading the Igbos to work against the All Progressives Congress (APC). I have reported the threat to my life and businesses to the Nigerian security authorities and have also alerted the international community.”

Ubah held a breakfast meeting with PDP National Assembly elects in Lagos. Also in attendance are State House of Assembly candidates and TAN Executives at the Sheraton Hotel, Lagos, where he also denied the rumour that the organisation was backing the APC gubernatorial candidate, Akinwumi Ambode, for Saturday’s elections.

He said TAN had never shifted its support for the PDP and he also debunked talks about a meeting with the Oba of Lagos to endorse the APC candidate as a rumour.

“It is very important for me to re-affirm clearly that as at today I am a PDP member and will remain so till tomorrow. Neither TAN nor myself is supporting the APC and its candidate in Lagos State. We are intact as a group and those we have supported,” Ubah added.

“I have no regret for supporting President Goodluck Jonathan and Agbaje. My position and that of TAN’s support for the PDP has also not changed. Some persons have called, others have sent text messages to me saying my life and businesses are no longer safe in Lagos. Some have questioned me why am fighting the APC in Lagos.”

He urged politicians to emulate President Goodluck Jonathan’s statesmanship disposition in conceding defeat and standing on the path of peace, noting that politics is only an avenue to serve humanity and not to threaten or intimidate opponents.
