Following the success of the first edition of the Ventures Platform Abuja, the Union Bank Nigeria (UBN) Plc, in partnership with Google, recently hosted over 200 participants at the second edition of its digital training workshop for students of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State.

According to the Head of Communications and Media, Omotola Oyebanjo, the workshop is aimed at helping more Nigerians, particularly the youth, play an integral part in the digital technology economy.

Omotola, while addressing the students, said: “With almost a century of experience and heritage in Nigeria’s financial sector, Union Bank is an institution that understands the need to keep evolving, learning and growing to stay relevant in today’s fast-paced economy.”

“We aim to keep delivering this across the country and our goal is to equip Nigerian youths with the basic digital skills needed to discover learning materials online, build businesses, create jobs and contribute to the overall economic growth of the country.”

Speaking on the partnership, Digital Education Lead, Google Africa, Bunmi Banjo, said: “We are excited that Union Bank is supporting our work to provide free digital trainings to young Nigerians.

“With over 97 million online subscribers, Nigeria continues to be one of the highest online populations in the world, and this presents big opportunities for economic growth.
