An alumnus of the Greater Manchester Business School, Uchenna Victor Moses, has emerged as a transformative force in the University of Bolton community.
His visionary leadership and strategic acumen have left an indelible mark on the institution, fostering inclusivity, driving sustainability, and spearheading innovative initiatives that have redefined the student experience.
During his tenure as the President of the University of Bolton Students’ Union, Moses demonstrated unwavering dedication, overseeing the strategic development of the union and ensuring the enhancement of the overall student experience since assuming office on July 3, 2023.
His amazing achievements of over 20 major projects in less than four months in office makes him exceptional. Showing the tale of a Nigerian immigrant promoting Nigerian values and culture in diaspora.
However, his visionary initiatives, such as the Bolton Leadership Conference, which had in attendance key stakeholders such as the Vice Chancellor, Prof. George E. Holmes; the Mayor of Bolton; the Provost, Prof. Zubair; members of the Board of Governors of the University; the Chief Executive Officer, Industries, Rehan Hasaan, and Andrew Roberts; the university’s Director of External Relations, Aris Matthaiou; senior lecturers, Dr. Celestine Iwendi, Dr. Sam Johnson, Dr. Rasheed Bello, and many more, and former student union presidents.
This was a life-transforming conference for students, as it gave them the opportunity, like other global events, to set their lives and careers on course. He also initiated the educational trip to the UK Parliament which gave students the unique opportunity to understand British politics, the role of the MPs, and how they can improve the student experience through collaboration and policy-making.
Through his visionary leadership, the Global Talent Visa Webinar for International Students was also organised which focused on the research and knowledge transfer programme (KTP) and how graduates, especially international students, can explore jobs in this sector.
He also launched the first phase of a sustainability and climate change workshop tagged my environment and I, focusing on individual product choice and the overall impact on driving behavioural change that will lead to manufacturers opting for more sustainable product manufacturing as a result of the behavioural change among consumers.
Recognising his homeland, Moses hosted the Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom in his early days in office, which led to several interventions for international students of Nigerian origin, a gesture he is ensuring will spread across other international student representation.
Another key project is the Bolton Students’ Parliament, which give students a platform to play strategic roles in the student union administration as enshrined “in our article of association boosting active participation and inclusion in Union activities. Launch of the Bolton Student Union Podcast, with the aim to boost student engagement and promote university services for students, by students and from students,” he noted.
He is currently planning an international trip to the European Parliament in Brussels, because there are tons of opportunities, jobs, internships, and openings in the EU, he said.
According to him, “This trip will stir up and provide students with the platform to learn about these opportunities and ways to utilise them, improve their social networks, and make connections. Another initiative is Navigating the UK as an International Student, a conference centred on exploring opportunities by changing the way we perceive challenges, not as setbacks but with the perception of the rewards and opportunities these challenges bring to set us on course for progress.
“The Black History Month Podcast with one of our amazing asst. vice chancellors, Sharon Grace-Cox to commemorate Black History Month, we learned how the understanding of history can be a tool to influence positive change and improve access and equality for all in today’s world, recognising the huge impact of blacks on the United Kingdom and how the lessons from their stories help us create a better society.”
Moses’s commitment to sustainability and environmental protection is evident in his involvement in the university’s sustainability initiative, POWA (Pledge, Observe, Act, and Win). This visionary programme aims to forge partnerships with businesses and stakeholders, working collaboratively to protect the environment and promote a culture of healthy living.
Beyond the university, Moses’ strategic leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic led to the successful digital transformation of CEES Assist Resources Limited, the company he worked for as project Manager before leaving to acquire his Master’s degree in the UK, resulting in a 100 percent turnover amounting to millions of naira.
His efforts also boosted staff retention and productivity, positioning the company as a strong player in the industry of project management in Nigeria.
Moses’ aspiration to assume the role of president stems from his deep sense of pride for the University of Bolton, Greater Manchester and the invaluable support he received from the president and head of the university, Prof. George E. Holmes. This partnership has been instrumental in the successful execution of his projects and initiatives.

During his time as a Student Employment Champion-International, Moses’ collaborative efforts, supported by his mentor, Charlotte Castelli, who found his work worthy for recommendation, an act that stirred him into action to do more, and Kalbir Cross, who guided him through the research approach that led to the innovation and his colleague Steven at the Careers service, paved the way for the establishment of the Diversity Careers in the Student Hub. This initiative was instrumental in promoting equal opportunities for all students, irrespective of their backgrounds.
Furthermore, Moses served as the Deputy Chairman of the International Student Community and actively contributed to the African and Caribbean Society, garnering a nomination for the esteemed Outstanding Society Member of the Year award.
As President, till June 30, 2024, Moses’ key objectives revolve around nurturing strategic partnerships with the university to enhance the overall student experience. He is resolute in his commitment to bolstering democracy within the Students’ Union, cultivating a robust alumni network, and fostering an environment that empowers students for future employability.
Moses’ strategic leadership has been recognised and appreciated by the University of Bolton community. His involvement in various initiatives, such as the Diversity Careers in the Student Hub, International student community and the African and Caribbean Society, has contributed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all students.

He is married to his lovely wife, Esther Moses and blessed with a son, Kainos Moses.
As a resolute person, the young change maker is hoping he gets to be an MP in the future; as he will strive to promote international student experience on a national scale, work towards eradicating work hour limitation for the purpose of allowing international students gain practical work experience before graduation and as well remove international student figures from the net migration list owing to the huge impact international students bring to the economy. He says he hopes to work with the United Nations someday.
