UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage has failed to win a seat in Britain’s parliament as his anti-EU party suffered a series of setbacks, final results from the general election showed on Friday.
The 51-year-old Farage, who had promised to step down if he did not win a seat, said he felt “an enormous weight has been lifted from my shoulders”.
“I think the time has come for real genuine radical political reform,” he said, pointing out that his party had received millions of votes nationwide but only managed to win a single seat in parliament.
