Former Chief of General Staff during the General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd.) military regime, Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe (rtd.), has mobilised the alumni of the Enuda High School to lift their 67-year old alma mater in Abia State.

Ukiwe graduated in 1959 from the school, which was founded in 1954 through the contributions of Abriba businessmen and the Abriba Communal Improvement Union (ACIU).

Chairman of the alumni association of the school, Chief Inem Nwaka, told The Guardian, yesterday, that the association resolved to raise N1 billion at its first re-union on December 31, 2021 to update the school facilities to global standard in response to its dilapidated structures.

It was learnt that the event will be hosted by the Chairman of Ohafia Council, Dr. Okorafor Ukiwe, while the traditional ruler of AbribaEze Kalu Kalu Ogbu as royal father of the day.

Nwaka revealed that Ukiwe will be chairman of the event, Prof. Anya O. Anya will be Guest Speaker, while Governor Okezie Ikpeazu will be Special Guest of Honour, just as Chief Kelvin Jumbo Onuma will be the Chief Presenter.

An alumnus of the school, Dr. Ochereome Nnanna, said facilities in Enuda High School, where promising young men and women of Abriba and former Bende Division, including Ukiwe were educated, became dilapidated as several efforts to revamp it in the past failed.
