
Global Alliance Africa, a project of Innovate UK, a pioneer in fostering innovation and growth, convened the ‘Digital and Creative Sector Development Partner Workshop’ in Lagos, Nigeria, on September 5, 2023. This half-day event marked a significant milestone in strengthening the digital and creative industry in Nigeria, bringing together key stakeholders, and industry experts for insightful discussions.
The workshop served as a platform for industry players to engage in meaningful dialogues, shedding light on essential topics such as programs, initiatives, challenges, and common areas of interest within Nigeria’s rapidly growing digital and creative sector. The event’s primary objective was to nurture candid conversations and uncover opportunities for growth and innovation within this dynamic industry.
Joshua Adedeji, the Nigeria Country Lead, of Global Alliance Africa, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “Global Alliance Africa, seeks to drive positive change by connecting people and innovation across borders. With support from Innovate UK sector experts, we are dedicated to bridging collaboration gaps and creating access to new technology and innovation. Our team is made up of deep sector experts who are dedicated to helping to catalyse innovation and realise the untapped innovation potentials.” He further said, “Global Alliance Africa has a track record of investing in programs in both primary and secondary cities, catalysing their growth, and also providing access to the exchange of knowledge between the UK and Nigeria.”.
The Workshop is a testament to Innovate UK’s commitment to creating a system that unites visionary individuals and proactive stakeholders as it serves as a collaborative hub, driving the sector forward while welcoming additional partners to accelerate growth and innovation. Chidubem Ejezie, lead on the Digital and Creative initiative at Global Alliance Africa relayed the importance of this by saying, “Nigeria’s digital and creative sector holds immense untapped potential, and we have identified ways to support the Federal Government in implementing the Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises (IDICE) Programme.”
Innovate UK emphasized that they remain resolute in their mission to champion innovation, ignite creativity, and usher in positive change in the digital and creative landscape. This workshop signifies a critical step toward achieving these goals, emphasizing the importance of industry collaboration, knowledge sharing, and significant growth for creatives in the sector.
