The current Vice Chancellor of Sokoto State University, Prof Bashir Garba, has emerged as the new Vice Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.His appointment was contained in a statement signed by the Pro-Chancellor of the university, Prof Attahiru Jega.

Garba was a staff member of Danfodiyo University before he left on a leave of absence. Before the new appointment, Garba held several positions in Sokoto, including Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Commissioner for Higher Education and Rector, Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic and Vice Chancellor of Sokoto State University.
